Getting There
Most people drive to the Fairway Inn since Fort Walton Beach is a common stop for many who hit the road along the Florida Panhandle. The motel sits right on US Highway 98 (Miracle Strip Parkway East), which is the city’s main street along the coast. Getting to it therefore poses no difficulty regardless of whether one is driving in from the east or west using Interstate 10 or any other regional routes. For a driver, this is a great bonus, having ample free parking right at the facility.
For incoming travelers, Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) is the nearest and the best-situated airport, just 15-20 minutes by car to the Fairway Inn. There is every recommendation to the traveler to rent a car at the airport because this puts possible travelers in the best position to flexibly explore the beautiful Emerald Coast region while visiting Destin and the beaches of South Walton. Taxis and ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft are also available at VPS for an easy and inexpensive conveyance to the motor lodge.
One more airport alternative is Pensacola International Airport (PNS), about an hour’s drive to the west. Motel access is by public modes of transportation. Though Fort Walton Beach is serviced by the local EC Rider bus system, this is inadequate to cater to comfortable tourist travel to and from airports or between far-flung attractions. So, the most effective way of reaching Fairway Inn and seeing more in the area is by driving in your own rented car.
