Hotel Tips
A smart way to stretch your budget is to milk the motel's location for all it's worth by walking to the adjacent restaurants and attractions. With the car parked for free, local restaurants and attractions can be explored on foot. The funds saved from taking inexpensive accommodations can then be used in enjoying experiences such as a dolphin cruise, a visit to the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, or a fabulous fresh seafood dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants at Okaloosa Island or in nearby Destin.
For the ultimate beach experience, go that short drive over the Brooks Bridge to Okaloosa Island. One great tip is to visit the John C. Beasley Park public beach access because they have plenty of free parking at the beach, restrooms, showers, lovely boardwalks to the fabulous gleaming white sands, and emerald green waters. It’s less crowded than areas immediately surrounding the pier so is great for a nice day of soaking up the sun and swimming. Fill your cooler with drinks and snacks from your in-room fridge for extra savings.
For something a little more quirky and interesting to check out locally, take the short trip to Eglin Air Force Base and visit the Air Force Armament Museum. Widely acclaimed as one of the finest military aviation museums anywhere, it harbors an amazing assemblage of aircraft and weaponry, both inside and outside. Best of all, it’s usually free—it’s great for all ages and a great activity to learn from.
Let’s not forget to take in the classic motel vibe – convenient parking by the room, plus that refreshing seasonal outdoor pool. A nostalgic evening’s entertainment: walk over to Goofy Golf for a round of mini-golf under the lights. Your stay at the Fairway Inn sets you ‘feet flat’ with the basics of what a ‘classic’ American beach vacation is all about: sun, fun, and value; the ideal position to take on everything the beautiful Emerald Coast has to offer.
